About

Eleanor Devaux-Alexander is the daughter of a famous Quidditch Keeper, Bastien Devaux and the wife he’s now got an annulment from, technically making her an illegitimate child. Due to the fact that her uncle, the head of the family, has no children, she is considered the de facto heir. Naturally as the halfblood (the Alexanders are quite the mix of muggle and magic) heir to a very well-known French pureblood family she’s seen as a bit of a peculiarity. She’s usually the free, welcoming girl with a vibe as warm and fresh as the island she was born on. When she’s with her French family though she becomes prim, proper, inhibited and just generally…flat and lifeless. The fact that she's part Veela is brought up way more often that it needs to be at get togethers. Her hobbies include Herbology, Quidditch (watching, playing, commenting, arguing about it), swimming and photography (and arts and crafts in general). Her father's family is known for the lavish parties that they either attend or throw, but you won’t see her looking very alive there. She’s best known as Eleanor Devaux, despite her double barrel name, so if you know her from those aristocratic little get togethers, you probably know her best as Eleanor Athenais Devaux. Friends

Eleanor is quite warm and friendly provided you don’t meet her at one of her family’s parties she’s quite lively, albeit a little bit judgemental at times. She makes friends quite easily, in fact it’s quite likely that she’ll consider someone her friend after a few conversations or even less. She’s quite free with her affections too, warm, the sort of person who will greet a friend with a hug. She’s stubborn and loyal to a fault, so even if you have an argument chances are she’s going to fight tooth and nail to get you back or resolve things properly that doesn’t necessarily mean that she’s going to stop the problem before it starts becoming…well problematic.
There's also a 99% chance that she'll make you a little something, a friendship bracelet, a scarf or a little knitted something or other. Plus free Quidditch tickets. There are perks to being her friend, the idea of someone abusing her friendship for such a reason has occurred to her before but really she just wants to see the best in people so.

Enemies

Eleanor’s hard to make an enemy out of but people who find her vapid, uninteresting and all about the looks might find her exasperating, it’s hard to see her in France among her family and then see her at school or outside of her family’s influence in general where she’s quite different. Some might even think of her as fake. She’d probably be determined to prove them wrong, but that might end up making things worse. It’d take a lot of miscommunication but unfortunately Eleanor’s the type to let misconceptions slide sometimes. She wouldn’t consider Quidditch rivals enemies though, or people who support the wrong team they’re just wrong. She’ll try and educate them (she thinks her dad’s the best Keeper ever after all) but if they’re not persuaded, they’re not persuaded.
Which means they just have to live their life being wrong. Ellie is so annoying when it comes to Quidditch.

Romance

Ellie is demisexual the physical stuff doesn't interest her that much but she’s in love with love, unfortunately she’s naïve, people have taken advantage of her for her dad’s fame, her family’s wealth and for her own looks. Her idea of romance unfortunately comes from her parents who are dysfunctional at best and the honeymooners on St Lucia. She might accept cheating as okay as long as her S/O’s heart belongs to her or whatever, it’s a mix of her family’s attitude, her own insecurities and the examples she’s been shown. It’s quite bad actually but she’s slowly growing up to realize that it’s wrong. She’s on good terms with all of her exes, mostly because her dad likes them all.
Still she gets crushes easily and it's awfully obvious too.

Other

Acquaintances through those parties or her school are welcomed, she could have potentially been someone’s Herbology tutor or in turn been tutored in Divination or Potions, or she might just have had a tall friend to help her reach things she’s probably the type to keep penpals too so the possibilities are endless (hell someone could just be that person her gecko likes way too much).
And I'm open to anything and everything.

For anyone interested the title means 'Good wind; good current; calm sea; let’s sail!' because St Lucia was a strategic port at one point, being between Martinique and St Vincent.

Hello, I would like to plot with you! I have three characters to offer!

Snežana & Eleanor
These two appear to be in the same year at the same school, so Snežana will be the most likely of my characters to have a pre-existing acquaintance with Eleanor. How well they'd know each other, though, is well and truly up in the air; Snežana is a pureblood herself, so it's vaguely plausible that they may have run into each other in that realm once or twice despite being primarily involved in the pureblood societies of roughly opposite ends of the continent, but they surely wouldn't have gotten to know each other well there. At school, though, they might have had a chance to become friends through some class they'd have in common (maybe bonding over being bad at Divination together? Snežana could have been better at it than she is, but she always second-guesses herself too much), or just casual acquaintances; there's also the part where Snežana withdrew from life socialization for at least several months during their second year (possibly leaking into their third year) because of her "family issues," so that might have put a strain on any acquaintanceship they may have had, depending on how Eleanor reacted.

In general, what do you think? Would they get along?

Era & Eleanor
Era is a Beauxbatons student a year younger than Eleanor, and she... does not trust strangers easily. Not at all. I doubt they would have gotten to know each other well enough to get through Era's "walls" before now, just because they're in different years, but that might perhaps change now that they're among the few Beauxbatons students hanging around strange Hogwarts people for most of a school year. It may be worth noting that Era is a Seer, which might influence any of several things (including a chance that Era will be able to help Eleanor with Divination homework despite the age difference going in the wrong direction)...

Oh, and both Era and Snežana are on their respective Houses' Quidditch teams (both play Chaser), so if Eleanor plays or watches, she'll have to have seen them there!

Astrit & Eleanor
Astrit goes to Hogwarts, so naturally he can't possibly have met Eleanor at school, and although he was raised in a pureblood family when he was little, he would never have been to any of the sorts of parties that purebloods have--first he was too little, and then he was discovered to be the result of his mother cheating on her husband with a less-than-half-blood, so... yeah. They may meet now, though, and I imagine they would have a few commonalities, like being half-bloods raised part of their lives by purebloods and the other part by their less-respectable and more-fun other relatives. Although Astrit is also rather nervous around strangers, just like Era is (and for similar reasons), I think that connection might help him get over his reservations a little quicker than normal.

Other thing: Snežana is not currently aware of Astrit's name, gender, or continued existence, but Astrit is very aware that Snežana exists (even though he hasn't heard from her in a couple years) and is kind of worried about her, so if Eleanor were to get in the middle of all that in any capacity, that might influence things as well.

At the very least, I think Ludwig and Eleanor should meet, make acquaintances, and maybe be Quidditch nerds/friends. What do you think?

Snežana & Eleanor

I’d say chances are that they share a class or two together, maybe they’ve ended up sitting next to each other in the past and chat has moved on from there? Ellie could probably try to befriend a paper bag so I’m sure that she’s definitely tried with Snežana, I suppose it depends on how she’d feel about someone like that. Bonding over being awful at Divination sounds like a good idea though, that’s definitely one thing that they have in common. If they have met at some sort of pureblood get together (I’ve always seen the Devaux family as sort of international by grace of the fact they have residences in both Martinique and France) then chances are that they didn’t interact much or it was quite cordial, Eleanor has a tendency to become a bit of a shut in during these times, she’s overly formal too so chances are they’ve seen each other but either not bothered with each other or not registered each other (I can see Eleanor making a deliberate attempt to not run into Snežana in that sort of situation haha). It’s pretty hard to get rid of Ellie once you’ve made friends with her, or even acquaintances most likely, if Snežana is okay with keeping whatever they had before she became a bit of a shut in going, Eleanor would be fine with it. On the other hand, if there was a strain, Eleanor simply wouldn’t bring it up so there’s potential for unsaid things causing tension if you’re into that.


Era & Eleanor

Eleanor is very much the big sister type (or she tries to be, she’s this mix of that and the stereotypical ‘mom friend’) so I think the fact that Era is younger might be a potential reason for Eleanor to make contact with her, if Era has a lot of walls I imagine Eleanor would be the one who makes the first move in case of interaction. There’s no doubt in my mind that if Eleanor ever found out that Era was a Seer (or even just ‘really good at Divination’) a tutor sort of thing could happen. It’d be a bit weird because Ellie wouldn’t be used to being the one who’s tutored and it could be a bit embarrassing for her at first but I think she’d swallow her pride for the sake of good grades.


As for Quidditch things she plays Seeker for Lierre so we can definitely do something with that. At the very least we could say that they’re aware of each other due to Quidditch things?


Astrit & Eleanor

There’s no doubt in my mind that if these two met it would have to be at Hogwarts, which is fine, Eleanor’s pretty easy to get interactions with due to the fact that she’s quite personable and friendly but if he’s like Era with a few walls he might find it a bit more intimidating more than anything else. There’s definitely a connection with the whole half-blood kids with family issues, and it’d definitely make Eleanor more concerned about him that’s for sure. It’s not often that you get to meet someone with similar circumstances after all, right?

Ellie’s quite aware that family is a delicate matter, but considering that she’s very close with her half-sister (Dominique who is coincidentally the only known love child of her father’s) if she ever found out she’d probably have a few things to say about it.


Ludwig & Eleanor

I am more than okay with that idea, Eleanor might find him a tad intimidating at first because he’s quite a bit taller and looks a tad scary but she’d probably get over it. And Quidditch buddies are best buddies, they’re both from pretty important European families (well more like sort of in Ellie’s case) so bonding potential? Word of caution though, Ellie can be somewhat insufferable when it comes to talk about the French Quidditch Team.

Snežana & Eleanor
As long as Eleanor didn't get offended by Snežana's withdrawing into a little ball of depression after the "incident" where she lost half her family, they could definitely be friends. Most of Snežana's friendships have a little blip of non-contact in the middle there with reconnection afterward, though; would this be one of them, or would Eleanor have stuck with her even when she was busy healing and not doing so well with the communicating?

Era & Eleanor
Perhaps they could be friends, then. Era would be happy to help Eleanor with Divination homework, if such were requested, and between that and seeing each other after Quidditch matches (on the "good game" sort of level) I imagine they'd get to know each other well enough that Era would be willing to call Eleanor a friend.

Astrit & Eleanor
Yeah, if Eleanor were to mention knowing a girl named Snežana, she would definitely have Astrit's attention at the very least, because he hasn't heard from his sister in three years and he'd be very interested in any possible opportunity to find out whether she's okay. I can imagine that that would be an interesting way to lead into their having conversations (during which Astrit would definitely be angling to elicit information about Snežana without explicitly saying that she's his sister, because he's not sure what Snežana told everyone about him, but the subject of parents' blood status and family relationships in general might come up that way, so that they could connect over that), and as long as Eleanor didn't do anything to indicate being untrustworthy in any way, they could become friends in time.

Snežana & Eleanor

I think Eleanor knows that it takes time to heal and stuff, I imagine she’s got a fear of abandonment herself so she has some sort of ‘no man gets left behind’ ideal behind quite a lot of her actions. And blips of non-contact aren’t a problem for her either, so I reckon she would’ve stuck with her. Ellie’s one of those people you can’t really shake off, for better or for worse. She’s kinda clingy.


Era & Eleanor

I definitely like the tutor angle and if they’re friends because of it all the better, I think, like I said Eleanor isn’t too headstrong to admit she’s struggling, she’s just very, very bad at improving. So that might be a point of frustration. On the other hand if there’s any way she can return the favour she’d be happy to do that. A shared like of Quidditch definitely helps there.


Astrit & Eleanor

Honestly, she’d probably mention it in passing if the conversation led to Quidditch somehowfor example ‘One match last year, Snežana did really well when she did ____’, especially if they’re actually friends, Eleanor wouldn’t miss the opportunity to boast about her friends. Even if Snežana is in a different house, haha. It’d be interesting to see if it played into the storyline with those two at all but of course that’s not necessary, although if you think that there’s anyway that Ellie could contribute I’d be down!
