One of the perks of being a seventh year, Lovino had observed over the past few weeks, was the generally wide berth most other non-seventh years gave him. Even the teachers would leave students to their own devices, so long as they weren't breaking any rules or causing disturbances. Lovino was doubly glad he had spent so many years working with Professor Iain, because he usually had free reign of the potions classroom when there weren't classes.
As such, Lovino was the only student in his N.E.W.T.s Potions class who didn't immediately pack up their things once they were dismissed. In fact, Lovino chose to Appear two more cauldrons on other students' desks the moment there was enough space for them. One Gryffindor asshole nearly clonked his head on the thick pewter cauldron that suddenly appeared on his desk. Lovino shared a private smile with himself as he registered muffled curses, but didn't look up from his notes. None of the offended students came after him: Lovino staying late after Potions Class was almost a guarantee, after all these years. He mentally filed the Gryffindor in his head, though, because he knew the asshole would probably come after Lovino during dinner, or directly after.
Now wasn't the time to worry about idiots who couldn't watch where they swung their heads, though. Lovino plucked up a sheet of parchment and stepped over to the ingredients' storage. Thankfully, he was only working with simple potions, so he didn't have to beg Professor Iain for the key to the closet with the rarer, more volatile ingredients. Lovino levitated what ingredients he needed to each respective desk with a silent wave of his wand, one of the few spells he'd managed to perfect incantationless. Not once did his eyes look up from his notes; he was double-checking his latest recipes for any glaring errors.
Lovino had what his brother called a "bad habit of feeding people potions without their express permission". When Lovino was younger, that meant poisoning people he disliked with nasty potions, like spiking that idiot Gryffindor Alfred Jones's food with the Jawbind Potion to shut up his incessant chattering--one of his milder "pranks", if you asked Lovino. However, he also slipped Feliciano and Ludwig many potions over the years as well: Draught of Peace or Dreamless Sleep Potions, with the occasional Invigoration Draught. Feliciano and Ludwig both had some serious bouts with anxiety and insomnia, and Lovino would be damned if he didn't do his best to help them through such episodes. However, Feliciano took to the Invigoration Draught about as well as a child with caffeine, while the Dreamless Sleep Potion only worked on Ludwig half the time and sometimes left him so lethargic he needed a dose of Invigoration Draught with his morning orange juice.
Therefore, Lovino was attempting to recreate the potions to counteract these side effects. It was a bit more difficult in Ludwig's case, because Lovino suspected his lycanthropy had something to do with his reaction to these potions. However, he would need to consult with both Ludwig and Professor Iain if he wanted to test his hypothesis, and even Lovino was uncomfortable with the idea of experimenting with his friend's condition, considering the potential dangers to everyone involved. However, he could at least see if altering the recipe itself would garner any results. At the very least, he could attempt to create his desired effects on himself before he asked Feliciano and Ludwig to try his newest creations.
When Lovino finally looked up from his parchment, he was surprised to see he was not, in fact, the only person still in the classroom. It was simple enough to recognize that shock of white hair. Lovino frowned at Gilbert Beilschmidt, swiftly stepping over to his desk and rolling up several pages of parchment. "What are you doing here?" He asked, eyes narrowed in the dim light. "I'm trying to work, so if you could just leave, that'd be fantastic."

Gilbert Beilschmidt I hope this works for you! I know we talked about Gilbert just ambushing Lovino somewhere and what better place to do that then his home-away-from-the-dormitory? |D
