[attr="class","profileboxscroll"]Natalya's sanity precariously hangs in the balance as a result of her history. She tends to have a rather negative outlook on life, and is prone to depression. However, she rarely shows this to anyone else, preferring to aim her anger at the rest of the world - and she does this quite expertly, having a tendency to scare people away with her antics.
It can be hard to break through her shell, but those who do manage to get close to her will find that she tends to cling to what little she has left. This explains why she is so clingy to her siblings, who she views as a source of protection and safety. She is incredibly loyal toward her siblings, to the point where she would give her life for any of them without a second thought.
She does have a softer side, though it's rare to actually see it. She has a weakness for animals, and a closet love of folk tales that, like much else she actually feels positively toward, borders on obsession. She would like nothing more than a storybook romance that ends with 'and they lived happily ever after' but knows that in her reality that will never be the case, at least in the near future. Therefore, she clings to her fantasies (in secret of course), in the hope that some day, maybe something will shift in the right direction after all. Some people may call her insane, but she'll argue that at least it's better than completely losing hope. And that's something, isn't it?
Natalya thrives on control - She likes the world around her to be a certain way, and when that is disrupted, it can throw her into a panic. She's quick to anger, though is more likely to lash out verbally than physically. That being said, if she does lash out physically, one should look out.
Natalya has developed quite the talent with various curses and hexes. Rarely do her curses and hexes cause permanent harm - unless there is a serious threat to either herself or someone she cares about - but they are enough to drive home the message that you should get away. She tends to view the world through a cynical eye, more to protect herself than anything else. She fears coming to trust someone only to have them betray her.
She knows she can trust her siblings and a few others who she's known for a good while, but is far less receptive toward others. She is willing to make small talk with strangers but anything further and she's likely to clam up, unless you've met her repeatedly or showed her that she has a good reason to trust you with more.

[attr="class","profileboxscroll"]The simple affair between the pureblood witch Elena Arlovskaya and the Muggle man she met one night at a club was supposed to be just that - a simple affair. No one expected anything to come of it, not the least Elena. Elena did not even discover that she was pregnant until it was far too late to consider an abortion, as she was used to irregular periods. The weight gain became impossible to ignore, however - and once she went to the doctor she discovered that she was six months pregnant. As she struggled enough to make ends meet on her own, there was no way that she could afford to add a child to that. Thus, she gave the child to a nearby orphanage, mistakenly believing that it might lead to her little girl having a better life than the one that she'd have with Elena.
Perhaps if Natalya had a more stable childhood, she might have blossomed into a friendly, well-rounded young lady. Sadly, this wasn't the case.
Natalya spent the first several years of her life in that orphanage. She did not know why her parents abandoned her there - Maybe they really did care for her and couldn't afford her, or maybe they hated her and wanted to get rid of her. For a while she wondered, but as time passed she started to care less and less. It wasn't as though the story mattered in the end. It ended with the same result - Natalya in the orphanage.
The fates of other children were largely varied. Some were adopted from an early age and spared the full brunt of the dismal conditions at the orphanage. Others ended in worse condition than Natalya. Others were left behind even as she was adopted out at the age of six. Young enough that she was not considered irreversibly broken, yet old enough that her experiences at the orphanage were forever cemented in her memory.
It should be noted that Natalya did not stay at the Muggle orphanage before she was adopted. She was a strange child in more ways than one. She learned at a younger age than most children not to let others get too close, for they'd only disappoint her in the end the way that many prospective parents did. Near the end of her stay, she began to show signs of magic, driving any prospective Muggle parents even further away. The owner of a wizarding orphanage often scoured Muggle orphanages to see if he could spot any children with magical abilities. It was with luck that he encountered Natalya and quickly moved her to his orphanage. From there life was much easier, and she was adopted within a few months.
It took a long while for Natalya to open up to her adopted parents. Why should she trust these strangers? They would eventually grow tired of her and ignore her, much as the so called 'caretakers' did in the orphanage. And so she waited. And waited. And yet, as frustrated as her adopted parents were at her lack of reaction to their displays of affection, they did not do as Natalya expected. They did not tire of her. They did not ignore her. This puzzled her. They weren't behaving the way that they were supposed to. Why?
Finally, she started to open up to them, as well as her adopted siblings. She cared for them, and they her. It was an improvement, but Natalya still had remainders from her time at the orphanage. Though she opened her heart to her family, she remained exceedingly hesitant to do so with strangers, making a sparing amount of friends, and even the few friends that she did make took a while to make.
Unbeknownst to Natalya, her adopted parents did make an effort as to look into Natalya's lineage. Natalya's full name of Natalya Elena Arlovskaya eventually led them to Elena Arlovskaya...now Elena Litvinchuk. She was considerably better off than when she had Natalya, but she was married with more children. She did not seem particularly interested in the daughter she'd had as the product of a one night stand when she was eighteen. Thus, Natalya's adopted parents decided it was best to keep any knowledge of this encounter with Natalya's birth mother from the child.
There was one benefit to their research, though, and part of the reason they'd attempted to find Natalya's birth family in the first place - They were able to trace Natalya's lineage. This was important, if Natalya were to attend Durmstrang. If Natalya was a Muggleborn witch, as was first suspected, she would be denied entry into the illustrious wizarding school and they'd have to search for another. With proof of a pureblooded witch mother, however? Natalya would be permitted entry.
She was the youngest sibling and therefore last to enter Durmstrang. She was sorted into the Tuuli house. By this point, her older brother Ivan was starting to make a name for himself as a 'problem child'. Witnessing her brother revert to a childlike state drew out strong protective feelings toward her older brother. For a young girl who already had a much too cynical view of the world for her young age, witnessing the way that her brother was treated cemented her opinion that people were, in general, assholes (for lack of a better word).
Fortunately for her brother, he was moved from Durmstrang to Hogwarts. Natalya wanted to go with him, going so far as to nearly succeed at stowing away with her brother, but she continued to attend Durmstrang nevertheless. This was perhaps for the best. Though she loved her brother, she would constantly be in his shadow were the two of them to continue to attend the same school. This way, Natalya could come into something of her own without being in her brother's shadow.
That said, her brother's reputation still persisted somewhat, especially in older students. Said reputation on top of Natalya's less than open personality ensured that she made very few friends. Fortunately this suited Natalya well. The few friends that she did make worked their way there with years of effort, and she valued them greatly.
Nevertheless, the normally stoic Tuuli is undeniably excited for the upcoming Triwizard Tournament. Not for the Tournament itself of course..though it might be interesting to watch certain aspects of the competition, she could take it or leave it. Instead, Natalya is primarily looking forward to going to school with her brother once again.

"I'm sorry ma'am but I can't let you go beyond this point. It's far too dangerous. The radiation levels in his room are reading through the roof on our monitors."
"Oh, alright. I suppose I'll have to come back later when things are a bit better then." Natalya put on her best disappointed frown before turning away as if to leave. Just when the hospital guard thought that he'd gotten rid of the girl who was rather persistent in her need to see a certain patient by the name of Ilya Volkov, he felt a piercing pain in the center of his chest. He glanced down, confusion turning into horror as he spotted the red stain steadily growing large on his clothes, flowing outward from a central point marked by a dagger sticking out of his chest. Connected to said dagger was the hand of the same petite young woman he'd said no to several moments before, and she was smiling.
"What's that? You've changed your mind? Aww, you're too kind." She removed the dagger from his chest, wiping it off on a rag before sliding the dagger back into its holder on her stockings. She then proceeded into the building, leaving the man in a state of questionable survival. Not that it particularly mattered to her - Yes, this was one of her brother's people, but he was a particularly annoying one that was keeping her from her goal.
She did take care to heed one of the man's warnings, however. If the radiation levels in Ilya's room were high, it more likely than not had something to do with his ability. While Natalya could not die from radiation poisoning, she still did not particularly fancy getting sick from something that could easily be prevented with the right protective material. Quickly donning the proper radiation gear, Natalya continued on her venture toward Ilya's room.
Upon opening the door to Ilya's room, Natalya greeted Ilya with the faintest hint of a smile of her own in greeting. She was happy to see him up and...'well' might not be the proper descriptor to use, but he certainly looked better than he looked the last time she'd seen him. A very good sign. Ilya's improved condition meant a much greater chance that the mission for which she'd come would turn out to be a success.
"Pack up your things as soon as possible. We're leaving." Well, Ilya did ask what she was doing here, so she might as well be upfront with him on the matter
