[attr="class","profileboxscroll"]Ion is first and foremost not someone who is easily approached. He didn't deal with other children much when he was younger, as they were of no interest to him, and so it takes him some time to even think about warming up to people now because of it. He's always suspicious of why a person is nice to him or just generally what they want with him to begin with. He's not particularly trusting, and so even when he does finally warm up to you don't expect him to share much about himself. It's easier to just discover things about him by existing in the same sort of space as him rather than by simply asking him as he doesn't like sharing details. Some take this to mean that he's simply quiet, but that isn't the case. He just simply doesn't know what to say to people unless it's in regards to proposing a competition or because he's confronting them about something. He can be very confrontational at times, and sometimes comes off as a bit intimidating because of it. That being said, the easiest way to get him to warm up to you is to present him with a challenge or some sort of competition. He prefers people he can compete with over people who simply seem to want to be nice friends with him as that confuses him.
Once he does manage to warm up to someone he has a tendency to attach himself to them. He gets super clingy as soon as he's decided he likes a person and not only is he clingy but he becomes more than a little possessive over them. They become his as far as he is concerned and he doesn't particularly like anyone that tries to take them away for long periods of time. He doesn't care what it is he does with this person it could just be him sleeping on them, but when it comes to people he decides he likes he wishes to spend all his available time with them.
As a night owl who habitually gets up early, he's regularly pretty tired. He both talks and walks in his sleep, and so he's not usually particularly coherent for several hours after literally rolling out of bed. He hates mornings and tends to have a somewhat short temper during them. It's best to just leave him be until he's at least attempted some form of caffeine or starts a conversation first. As otherwise you're likely to get glared at in a somewhat menacing fashion. Ion has very little patience for people normally let alone in the morning, and so it's better to just leave him to either fall back asleep or try and wake himself up quietly. He regularly takes naps in the afternoon and then does his homework in the dark after lights out.
He doesn't have a particularly strong or motivated work ethic when it comes to homework, but he knows he has to do it so he just hurries through it to get it out of the way and return to doing things he actually wants to pursue. He has many interests that he actively and passionately pursues, reading and essays just aren't in his interests. He generally learns better with hands-on subjects rather than with ones he just has to do a lot of reading for. His attention span can be a little on the short side, but if he's actively working on something it's easier for him to keep his attention so sometimes he tries to keep himself engaged in his more boring classes just so that he doesn't fall asleep and fail. He wants to do well, he just sometimes lacks the motivation or discipline to do so. Thus, he frequently ends up as a productive procrastinator who will do literally anything other than the reading for History of Magic. If that means he knits seven scarves and then writes his essay at two am in the dark then so be it.
The last bit that is of note about his personality is that he is incredibly vindictive, if he's been wronged then expect there to be payback. It may not be soon, but eventually he will repay whatever wrong was done to him. He can hold a grudge for a very long time though he prefers to get it out of the way sooner rather than later. This is especially the case with people he has actually warmed up to, people he generally dislikes though he's willing to hold onto the grudge for months or years if he needs to in order to aptly prepare for whatever he's doing in return.

history
[attr="class","profileboxscroll"]Dzmitry Zakharov was the dark arts professor at Durmstrang up until he managed to get one of his students who needed a good grade pregnant. Her name was Elena Arlovskaya and she was sixteen at the time. This, made things extra complicated. Fortunately she came to him first and he was able to assist her in hiding this particular problem during the school year. Once the child was born he agreed to keep the boy and leave the school under the guise of having a son to raise. He obliviated Elena and simply said that he had a fleeting girlfriend who passed away during childbirth so that nobody would find out what had actually happened. The boy was named Ion, and was mostly placed in the care of his maids, as he was a busy man with other exploits, to be raised as an upstanding pureblood wizard boy.
Unfortunately for Dzmitry he had an extraordinarily difficult son. His interests were fleeting at best and he quickly grew bored of studies and instead turned to more destructive interests in favor of them to keep himself entertained. More than once the maids could swear they had turned their back for only a moment to find that he was gone and attempting to tunnel under the neighbor's fence or lighting the lawn on fire with a magnifying glass when they found him. As a toddler there wasn't a whole lot they could do to stop him. They tried to get him into a few easy things just to occupy him, things like swimming, piano lessons, tumbling, some muggle sports though sports didn't last long as his father disapproved of all things muggle.
As he got older they were able to occupy him a little better with puzzles that got increasingly more complex, though he frequently managed to finish them before they expected and so they would have to stop him from setting the lawn on fire and instead find things that would occupy him better. They tried to teach him to cook numerous times despite his father's protest that 'it was for girls' and he set the kitchen on fire no less than six times before managing to successfully bake a pie. He was so proud of himself that he went to show his father. When the man instead yelled at him claiming that baking was for girls and that he wasn't raising a girl Ion decided to take the pie he made and just shove it in the man's face. Yes, he got smacked for that, but he will always claim that it was worth it to see the look of absolute shock on his father's face.
Due to his fleeting interests the maids were always scrambling to figure out something for him to do, which is how he ended up learning how to crochet, knit, sew, pick locks without magic, build igloos, solve Rubix cubes, and create origami. Things that were challenging to him were more likely to keep his interest, and so they learned to present things as a challenge rather than simply handing him a puzzle and telling him to occupy himself the way his father wanted them to. It was obvious that wouldn't work, and so they had to keep him actively occupied so that he didn't end up destroying everything he could get his hands on.
Soon enough the time came for him to get his school letter and it was decided that he would be going off to Durmstrang. It came time for him to get his wand and he was off to the shop to get one. When he was initially handed a walnut one he managed to light his father's trousers on fire with a swish. This wand was instantly deemed not correct and he was handed a Fir wand with unicorn heartstring instead that seemed to accept him as it's owner. He picked up the rest of his supplies and tossed them in his trunk rather uninterested in the new books. Reading had never been something he enjoyed, and school books were even lower on his reading enjoyment list so he occupied himself with his usual interests while waiting for the school year to start instead.
His first year was off to a rough start as he was a night owl who had to be in bed by eight and up at seven. He was sorted into house Eldur what with his fleeting interests and somewhat fiery personality. By the end of the year though he'd learned to be habitually up by seven and basically do the morning exercises in his sleep to the point that when he got home he would continue to do them through the summer.
Initially when he got home though he got quite a surprise as it turned out his father got married and he now had a step-sister and a step-mother. His first reaction was of course to ask if his father knew how to send an owl or if that was something they didn't teach him in school. For which, as with every other time he talked back, he got smacked. He was of course, like with everyone else he met, wary of his step-sister initially and he sort of ended up intimidating her with it as he would just kind of suspiciously eye her all the time rather than trying to really get to know her.
Eventually he did warm up to her, but it took another year and so by the time he decided he liked her he was starting into his third year at school. He might have been a little too clingy with her once he did decide he liked her, but it made no difference to him. That was just how he was with all the people he had decided he liked even if those were rather few in number. As school continued
he made a few friends here and there along with some enemies same as anyone. His school years were honestly pretty uneventful until he was around fifteen and finally actually thought to ask his mother's name. It had really never occurred to him to ask for some reason, but he was somewhat curious as to what she was like and why his father had never mentioned her at all. It just struck him as odd, and so he got her name and realized that there was a girl a few years younger than him that had the same last name. That was how he met his younger half-sister Natalya, and found he had quite a bit in common with her so he warmed up to her pretty easily.
It is now his seventh year at Durmstrang and he's unsure of whether or not he wants to look forward to the tournament or not. He's not sure whether or not he wants to sign up either, and he's really not sure about meeting and dealing with all sorts of new people for an entire year.

[attr="class","profileboxscroll"]It was the start of yet another school year and while he was used to getting up early, that didn't mean he liked it. He had managed to survive half-sleeping through his morning training and breakfast again, and had made it through his morning classes without passing out on his desk so now he was having lunch and writing an essay that was supposed to be due in one of his later classes in a somewhat absent-minded fashion. Perhaps he had procrastinated on it a bit too long, but it wasn't like he could help it. Essays were boring, and so he usually had very little patience for writing them when he was supposed to be doing so. Instead he usually found himself doing virtually anything else, including homework he had been putting off for other classes, just so he could avoid writing an essay until he had nearly no time left to do so.
He had mostly found his concentration to finish the essay when his snake decided to slither up over the back of his head and hang over in his face. "балда, can you not." he said simply as the snake continued before falling off of his head into his lap rather ungracefully. What a ridiculous serpent she was, but he didn't mind as long as she wasn't hindering his sight. Well, alright, he also didn't want her wandering off somewhere under feet as she was likely to get stepped on like that. Thus he scooped her up and put her across his shoulders so that she didn't slide off his lap and onto the floor under the table. Once she was settled again he returned to finishing his essay. He should be able to finish it before his next class, but he supposed there was a chance he wouldn't. Really, he should probably do some editing to it, but there wasn't a whole lot of time for that. Perhaps Natalya would be willing to proofread it for him though? Sure, he could probably ask one of his house-mates, but there weren't any around that he was particularly fond of at the moment.
Thus, he went off in search of his half-sister instead. It didn't take long to find her, she was honestly pretty easy to spot what with her rather light blonde hair that pretty clearly matched his. Obviously they both took after their mother in that regard, or well in a lot of regard it was probably an absolute failure of observance that he hadn't realized she was his sister until learning his mother's last name. Anyway, he spotted her at a table and walked up behind her to tap her on the shoulder. "Natalya, are you busy at the moment?" he asked her simply with a slight smile. "Can you proofread this essay for me? I'm sure there's probably at least a few sentences that make no sense in it." he commented with a sigh. Writing really wasn't a strong subject of his. Hopefully she was a bit better than he was at it at least.
