personality
Cool yet passionate. Dynamic yet introverted; the diametric parallels between Elias' character could stretch on for eons. Externally he presents himself as something of a sullen adolescent. In many regards, this allows him to blend in with the local population. He's tart in expression (a habit he picked up from Lukas), and tends to keep to his own devices while attempting to keep his emotions in check. For the most part, he would rather be inactive than active.
Naturally, that entails participating in more introverted endeavors. Reading, watching television, and listening to music are hobbies that Elías regularly indulges in. This inclination, combined with his reserved countenance, allow Elías to appear aloof and indifferent to his surroundings. Rarely is he ever perturbed by the idiosyncrasies that engulf his world (for the most part) and typically expresses curiosity at most. He could very well delve into and dissect into the oddities of a situation -- he just simply chooses not to.
Elías is a man that appreciates space. Not only does he need it in order to function at his best, but even the slight deprivation of it makes him anxious and uneasy. That's why he expends his energy on individuals that, he believes, are worthy of his time. It's usually when he's placed under the grip of more exhausting temperaments that he loses his cool. It's for this reason he can come off as disagreeable and curt even in the most mundane situations.
Elías is used to getting what he wants. It's one of the many consequences of his wealthy upbringing. At his absolute worst, he can come as stubborn brat who appears to be completely divorced from the hardships of reality. Unfortunately it's quite easy to rile him -- if he doesn't get what he wants, one can expect him to throw his variation of a "temper tantrum." This entails scathing remarks directed to his offender and an overall withdrawal from society.
Neither of Elías parents were around to coddle him for him for very long, leaving him feeling rather barren internally. He feels entitled to the same sentiments experienced by his peers, yet he feels can't bring himself express these desires openly. It's for this reason he resorts to adolescent disinterest, it's safe and familiar to him. This is especially telling when one recalls that Lukas was his primary role model growing up. Elías could never deny the amount of love his brother had for him but when it came to exposed expressions of affection, the older male was always reserved and withdrawn.
Most of his actions are motivated by self-serving reasons. Because he feels entitled to the same warm and tender care experienced universally, he sometimes acts like a brat in order to elicit feelings of pity, or sometimes the opposite. Other times he acts out in order to convey an illusion of hardened masculinity. Teenagers rebel out of a desire for autonomy, and Elías is no different from his peers in that respect.
Elías has a nefarious temper. Much like the volcanos that taint his native island, he can explode is placed under the right conditions for a prolonged amount of time. And due to his aforementioned sensitivities, he can explode over the most trivial matters, as long as they pertain to him. Otherwise he could care less. For him there's is no sweet spot for his emotions -- he's either fully invested in his emotional side or simply indifferent to its existence.
Generally speaking, Elías
