Lovino rubbed his aching eyes with his clean hand, grimacing down at the parchment spread across his bed. Thanks to the "new students" infesting the halls of Hogwarts, there was almost no safe, quiet place for Lovino to do homework in peace. Even the most secret nooks and crannies were filled with nosy wizards from Dumstrang or Beauxbatons curiously poking their noses in every fucking corner they can find. Almost worse, wherever there weren't foreign students roaming around, his own fellow classmates were hemming and hawing about the Triwizard Tournament, and all manners related therein. Even the other Slytherins were talking too loudly for him to comfortably work. Hence why he was up at ass o'clock in the morning trying to work on his essay for Transfiguration.
With a grimace, Lovino gracelessly put the lid back on his pot of ink. He just barely avoided spilling the ink all over his comforter, which would have been frustrating to clean up. Not because the Scouring Spell was difficult, but he'd have to dispel Lumos and he didn't feel like trying to clean his sheets in the dark. Thankfully, though, he wasn't a complete idiot. Once he had his ink safely sealed, he gently lifted his essay off the bedspread. This was the hard part: the ink was still wet, and one wrong move could smudge it all and he'd have to start over.
A few careful maneuvers later, Lovino's drying essay, quill, and ink were set on the bedside table. Everyone else in the dorm was fast asleep--or at least had the curtains on their beds drawn--so the bright light of his wand went unnoticed. Not that he'd normally be bothered if he woke anyone up, but Ludwig and Feliciano were slowly sleeping less and less every day and he didn't want to waste time brewing sleeping potions to spike their dinners with. At least not until later in the year. Then Lovino gathered up all his books in his arms and sprawled across the bed in order to drop everything in a messy pile on the floor. Lovino didn't give two shits how messy it was, because he never got out of bed on that side anyway. Ludwig will probably try to give him shit, but Lovino had already dealt with six years of his nitpicky neat-freak nature. He would just charm them all into his bag in the morning.
Finally, his bed was ready for him to fall asleep. The house elves knew his preferences well enough by now that they overloaded his bed with pillows and blankets, so he tossed his robes on the floor atop his books before burrowing into his nest of warmth. With a quiet mumble his wand stopped glowing, casting his bed in darkness. It was time for bed. With a sigh, Lovino closed his eyes, tugged his blankets to his ears, and yanked a pillow over his head for good measure. Sufficiently buried, he tried to relax. He would have to wake up early if he wanted to finish his essay before classes started, but he wanted at least a few hours of sleep.
Thankfully, Lovino was skilled in falling asleep quickly, regardless of his surroundings. Within minutes he was out like a light.
