"Not to worry, mon cher. I just happened to get lucky."
Celeste Grimaldi... that girl, no taller than your shoulder, who holds herself like a queen. She's the girl you go to if you're not sure if your shirt matches your skirt, if you need romantic advice, if you need a substitute older sister, if you want to discuss the intricacies of the muggle economy and blue fin tuna population, or...if you want your pockets to feel little bit lighter. Despite her small stature, it's impossible to overlook the young witch, this might have to do with the stern but noble aura that seems to just emanate from her, or because you have an eye for spotting true royalty. Because that precisely what Celeste is: Celeste Lucille Grimaldi, Princess of Monaco and second in line to the throne. So what in Merlin's name is she doing at Hogwarts?
That's a story for another time, but knowing that Celeste is a royal muggle-born witch thrown into a world where the highest ranking witches and wizards are pureblood is essential in understanding her personality and motivations at Hogwarts. Picture this: you're a princess at an elite boarding school in England, top of the figurative "food chain," and never the butt of anyone's joke. It was quite a shock to eleven year old Celeste when that was no longer the case. But never did she give any indication that this change bothered her. Celeste is, more than anything else, dignified and is incredibly talented at hiding her true feelings. She makes sure that her appearance and overall demeanor reflects that. Her glasses are perched right above a small pert nose and over sized bow in her long dark blond hair gives her a very intellectual look indeed. Many things about Celeste are simply...uncanny. She is uncannily good at remembering and guessing names, an uncanny skill for avoiding accidents, uncannily good at winning guessing games, and, even more uncanny has NEVER lost a bet or gamble. A trait that does not endear her to her critics.
And to be clear, if you are someone who does not know Celeste, it is very easy to dislike her (or in her view, ils sont jaloux). She has a tendency towards arrogance in matters of intellect and the heart. She very much enjoys the finer things in life. And she hates getting her hands dirty. Non-surprisingly, Herbology and Care of Magical Creatures are the two classes that she struggles with most. Potions is fine...as long as she doesn't have to touch any of the ingredients, namely beetle eyes. More so, Celeste is the type of team player who has to be pulling the ropes, her anxiety towards failure can often be contagious to those who work with her. It is not uncommon to find her enemies citing her old fashioned manner of speaking as further proof of her uppityness... and they're not entirely wrong.
But move beyond first impressions and you will be surprised by Celeste's character. True to her wand and house Celeste is incredibly intelligent, reliable, and wise beyond her years. A demeanor that has often contributed to her title of "the Small Lady." And though she does not have a wide circle of friends nor is she an extrovert she just emanates charisma. Many expect to be rebuffed if they approach her, but her overall attitude, slight flirtatiousness, and extreme focus, gives you the feeling that you are the only person in the world who matters to her when she's talking with you. Celeste values cleverness above all else and, a perfectionist at heart, works hard in her studies. She enjoys the "finer things" yes, but what she enjoys more is showering her friends in luxury and attention. Do not be surprised if Celeste invites you to come and study with her on a piece of fine parchment and golden ink...and later offers a glass of fine wine as a midnight treat. Nor should you be surprised should she buy drinks at Hogsmeade for all of her classmates. Though she loves seeing other people enjoying themselves, she does rather regret the fact that she often sees her fellow students at their most drunk and hedonistic states. Then there's the question...where does she get all this money? Surely her coffers can't be THAT big, despite her royal status. Well, her favorite party trick is challenging the owner of the bar or the richest individual on the premises to a game of poker.
Thus, we come to that next big definer of Celeste's personality: her propensity towards risk-taking and her seemingly never-ending luck. As a citizen of Monaco she is not actually allowed to gamble in its famed casinos, but never the less, she learned card games on her own and you will be hard pressed to find a better poker play (or someone with a better poker face) than Celeste. Her favorite currency to gamble in? Secrets. Celeste loves secrets and she loves acquiring new knowledge on anything or anyone. Despite her intellectual anxiety, Celeste enjoys the feeling of risk whether that be bets during a games or personal dangerous feats. Celeste loves to go fast. And though she normally hates outdoor activities that might possibly dirty her shoes, her dislike stops when it comes to broom racing and Quidditch. She's small, she's fast, she has the balance of a life long ballet dancer, she's annoyingly lucky, and she is the perfect Seeker for Ravenclaw's Quidditch team.
But although she enjoys the rush of danger, she also must contend with her anxiety. For the dark side of her perfectionism and focus is her tendency towards obsessive and compulsive behavior. Her small, almost unnoticeable rituals before playing any game or leaving any room, the strictly regimented schedule, her distrust of all things dirty, chewing at her nails until they bleed. There is a reason she never takes off her gloves in public. Celeste does not think the anxiety will ever go away, but she would do anything to hide this small chink her her otherwise impenetrable armor.
Remember, this princess may be generous, charismatic, clever, and motivated, but even she has her flaws.

history
"Mon p’tit chaton, do not fret! I simply have beginners luck!"
For a Princess, she had a pretty normal childhood, generally speaking. Of course, there were anomalies, whether those could be attributed to her uncannily good luck or the manifestation of magic, or both has yet to be decided. Though Celeste loved growing up on the castle grounds, sneaking into the casino, and investigating luxury cars that did not belong to her, all good things come to an end. Celeste at age 7 was sent to an elite boarding school in England where she became fluent in not just French and English, but Italian and Spanish as well. Many other students came from families similar to Celeste, by 10 she had quite the little international friend group. Her separation from her family lent to her family's lack of awareness of her latent abilities.
But Celeste noticed.
On her 10th birthday Celeste decided to grow her normally short hair out. After all, she was now into the double digits and it was high time that she started looking like a true Lady. She was impatient -after a week, there was still no noticeable difference. Going to bed immensely distressed she awoke to head full of incredibly long and incredibly tangled hair. Her classmates and teachers figured she had purchased some extensions, but Celeste knew better and she could not explain it. Now, she was a VERY anxious person and when things continued to happen and concerned by her abnormalities, Celeste tried very hard to suppress it. She found herself making up rituals for herself to prevent random outbursts, which she diagnosed as hallucinations.
If I braid my hair perfectly the first time, I'll be okay
If I can hold my breath 70 seconds 5 times in a row nothing bad will be okay.
Now, imagine her surprise when she received a letter a year letter outlining a school for Witches and Wizards and establishing her...somewhat normalcy. Now, going to Hogwarts, the finest school of witchcraft of wizardry was not something a Princess of the Grimaldis did. So at 11, for the first time in her life, Celeste Lucille Grimaldi made a decision that many would call whimsical.
Not wanting her family to know of the existence of magic until she had a better idea of it, Celeste told her parents that she had been accepted to another school in England that she would like to attend. So, they lent her a reasonable amount of money, and she traveled with a professor to Diagon Alley, bought her school books, bought her robes...and found Cherie. The moment she walked into the shop and the biggest gray cat she had ever saw simply jumped on her shoulders, Celeste knew. Ever since then, Celeste and Cherie have been inseparable. In the common rooms, Cherie finds her home around Celeste's neck like some furry boa and the only exception to Celeste's "ew animals" rule.
Upon coming to Hogwarts, Celeste knew that Ravenclaw was the house she wanted to be in, but had also decided to prior to coming that she would not try to influence the hat's decision. After all, it was expert. But she need not to have worried in mere seconds from touching her head, the hat crowed loudly "Ravenclaw" and so, her life as a witch officially began. Her first year was rough, the world of magic was still unfamiliar to her and after a bullying incident in her first year, the young witch closed herself from many others. She would never be humiliated again. Never again would she allow raw emotions to cross her face, a princess did not let anyone know when they succeeded in hurting her.
Since then, her life has been largely uneventful - or as uneventful a student at Hogwarts life can be. She excelled at charms and and arithmancy and worked hard to achieve top grades in all her class, even herbology. Now, Headgirl of Ravenclaw and its newest Seeker, she's ready to take on her sixth year. She has a very specific obsession this year, aside from good marks: to make Felix Felicis before the year is up.

The hat sat rough again her forehead and her glasses misted over with moisture form her quick breaths. As the sorting hat settled over the small girl's head the sounds from the loud and excited Great Hall were slowly muffled and then, simply vanished.
You're easy, whispered a small reedy voice in her right ear. Celeste's eyes widened, and despite herself, she pursed her lips into a small pout.
"Monsieur Hat, I will have you know, that I find that comment rather insulting," she shot back, her fingers twisting in her lap. "It's quite rude to dismiss a person's many intricacies... I happen to have a great deal of interests and hobbies! "
"I didn't say you were simple. I just said you were easy. I know exactly where to put you..."
RAVENCLAW!
Celeste felt somewhat cheated by the short conversation, after all, surely that hat could have stood to share some knowledge with her. Even so, her cheeks glowed with pride. Ravenclaw was the house of cleverness, and if there is anything Celeste prided herself on, it was being clever. "Clever is best" she reminded herself softly, pushing her glasses back up to her nose as the rude hat was lifted off of her head. Before sitting down, Celeste had been too nervous to truly notice the sheer size of the Great Hall or the many students watching the ritual. Despite herself, a soft blush spread across her cheeks at the sight of the entire Ravenclaw table gesturing for her to sit, boys jostling each other to make room. Celeste had always enjoyed her schools, and her friends, but this was the first time she felt truly...what was the word? Celeste pursed her lips, it wasn't often that she was unable to think of a word, and Celeste did not like the feeling.
How else could she describe this warmth in her stomach? This heat in her cheeks? She was a connoisseur of love, but you could not feel love towards and idea, towards a school.
She sat down, ruffled by the pats on her back, the crowd of hugs, a small smile across her delicate features.
You could not feel love towards a place...and yet, that is how she felt.
