[attr="class","profileboxscroll"] Birgitta is a very quiet, self-contained young woman. She has selective mutism, that rears up when it comes to meeting new people outside of her comfort zone, or just if she doesn’t feel like talking. She typically comes off as cold and emotionless, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. In fact, Brigitta feels more than one would expect, though she had learnt from a young age to control her emotions and facial expressions. She can be a very intense, driven figure, and she loves to create and express herself through crafts, such as wood-carving, jewellery-making and other creative outlets. She can be very silent when it comes to personal struggles, often feeling like she does not need to burden others with her issues. Brigitta is always willing and able to lend a hand, having been raised to offer others help when possible, even if it’s just someone to vent to.
Brigitta is a very protective and loyal woman, rarely giving it out unless someone does something to earn that part of her personality. She has a long temper, and very rarely loses it, but when she does, then whoever pissed her off had better run and hide. Brigitta’s temper comes out in a kind of focused point, and if you push her past even that, she will snap and go into a Berzerker-like state, not stopping until knocked out, or the punishment she believes needs to be dealt, is dealt. Brigitta also likes to tease in her own way, for if she finds someone she loves and is willing to put in the effort, she will end up calling them her Husband, just to see the look on their face. Brigitta is also a bit of a prankster, though mainly just small pranks. She gets away with them too, because no one ever expects her to have any kind of humour, even if her humour tends to be Black or just plain weird. Birgitta also has a deep love of cute and small things, often melting at the sight of them, though you could only tell by looking at her eyes. She has a hard time making friends with how sharp and elegant her features are, but once you look past that, she can be very loving and a stalwart friend though thick and thin. Just don’t betray her, because if you do, not even Odin himself could save you from revenge.

history
[attr="class","profileboxscroll"] Birgitta is the only daughter of her small family living in Stockholm, Sweden. Her parents are quiet and slightly cold; her Father a pure-blood of the Oxenstierna family, and her Mother is a follower of the Old Ways, having a line of Vikings in her ancestry. Birgitta's Father was the younger brother in the Oxenstierna Line, but had been disillusioned regarding the family's history and behaviour towards the non-magic folk. It didn't help that he fell in love with a non-magic woman, even if she did practice the Old Ways. Birgitta was born a very quiet baby, and the quiet personality carried through for most of her life. Her Father rarely had time for her since he worked as a Carpenter, and secretly a master Rune-smith, and was one of the main sources of income for the small family. Her Mother often tried to be there for Birgitta, but it was difficult considering she was an elementary school teacher, busy with her classes, and the housework. Brigitta showed a talent for the different Scandinavian languages, like Danish, Finnish, Norwedian, Icelandic and Swedish, but struggled in other languages. She had been lucky in that she had a very good memory, and studied hard to impress her parents, hoping for some attention from them. She used to act out when small, never in any bad way, but wouldn’t speak for days on end if she didn’t want to. Unfortunately, it developed into a form of selective mutism, and even if Birgitta wanted to speak, certain situations kept her from doing so. The selective mutism actually enabled her to find other ways of communication, through sign-language, writing and expression though body-language, which only came out if she really trusted the other she was 'talking' to.
As a child, Birgitta had another skill she kept to herself; sometimes she could make her dolls dance, and could kind of sense if something was going to happen or go wrong that would affect her or her parents. It was strange, but sometimes she would tug her parents out of the way, or change the path they were walking on, and avoid a dangerous situation. After a few times of that happening, her Parents quickly figured out that there was something VERY different about their quiet daughter, though her Mother insisted that it was her Viking history, or that the Gods were taking an interest in Birgitta. Growing up as she did, the young woman developed a reliance on herself, and a slightly stoic stance on allowing other people to help her. She liked to take care of her own problems, and kept to herself a majority of the time. Finding out about Magic, specifically the fact that SHE had it, had been a very rough wake up call to her and her Father. She had been using accidental magic as a child, small but focused bursts, and it had not really been an idea to her parents that MAGIC was the big secret behind Birgitta’s abilities, her Father having hoped that she had been born without it. She was rather grateful for her Mother’s religion with the Old Ways, and her Father’s decision to ignore that she had magic; even though she later learnt at the school that HE had magic as well. Sometimes she caught him looking at her with a solemn and sad look on his face, like he knew something else, but wasn't willing to say. Going to a school as stern and cold as Durmstang was very hard on Birgitta, and she kept to herself, rarely speaking to other students. She had few friends, but those she did have, she cherished.
Her first year in the School had been a rough and brutal one, teaching her rather swiftly that she had to keep up, keep going and refuse to budge. Being brought into the Quakes of Jord house, she kept to herself, and focused her skills on completing the tasks handed to her. She was a ferociously hard worker, and made sure to not falter in any way. Before she had left, her Father had made her promise not to break, and to work hard, harder than any other student in the school. The young woman always strove to make her Father proud, and used her intense behaviour and strong will and drive to do so. She swiftly became a quiet force to be reckoned with, her magic working with her to allow her to use spells, even when she had her unfortunate moments with her selective mutism. She did not take to the Dark Arts easily, but she knew that the world was not defined in Whites and Blacks, but shades of Grey. There was no true line of Good and Evil, and she focused on that. She was as Neutral magically as one could get, and it helped her survive Durmstrang. The military aspect of the school actually helped her build up strength and stamina, increasing her own abilities to tow materials, such as blocks of wood, stone and other needed items for her creations. She had heard rumours of Rune-Masters, and other artisans being able to mix magic and crafting together.
Birgitta had been doing research on the subject, when she spotted her Father's name as one of the more renowned Rune-Masters, utterly destroying her worldview, and forcing her to reevaluate her worth at this school. She kept on doing more research into her Father's side of the family, and she quickly learnt that the man had been the youngest Son of the family, and had one older brother, who also married and had children. She didn't know what to do with this information, but decided to leave it alone. Her Father had his reasons to leave, and she wouldn't hurt him, or ruin his life by contacting people who might not even care for her. It hurt her to drop the knowledge, but at least she knew she had family out there.

[attr="class","profileboxscroll"] Things had always been a little strange over at the Oxenstierna home, a small place located closer to the outskirts of Stockholm, Sweden. The couple living there with their only daughter, Birgitta Oxenstierna were pretty self-contained. Brigitta herself had just arrived home from Durmstrang after her Second Year, relieved just to be home, and away from That School. Yes, she enjoyed learning Magic and all that came with it, but after a while, the militaristic style and focus could really drain someone of their energy. She had a few people she needed to contact, some of her small number of friends she promised to write to. Being a Half-Blood in a school that was very heavily influenced against non-magicals and muggleborns was difficult, but Birgitta knew that she could live her life in both worlds if she had to.
She had started looking into wood-carvings, jewellery-making and the use of Runes to help with strengthening the materials and layering protections into it. The subject and ideas behind it would not leave her alone. She was interested in testing out the skill, focused on making animal figurines for her friends in Durmstrang, a Wolf, a Tiger, a Pelican and, for her quieter friend, a faerie. She would make sure to carve it out of a softer wood, something that would take the runes well. It also helped that her Mother followed the Old Ways, which made learning about Runes something she could do in front of her mother, even possibly carve some rune stones for casting and divination, something her Mother was a little notorious for. Birgitta quietly looked up at the small sections she created for the Norse Gods she prayed to, Odin, Thor, Frigga and, as a new addition, Loki, wondering if they were looking after her. She knew that they were busy gods, especially being Aesir, but she hoped that maybe, on the rare occasion, they looked in on her, and approved of her actions.
