Generally, Lovino rarely wandered the grounds of Hogwarts during the school year. Scotland, even in the later half of second term, was fucking cold compared to home. Even when he spent 70% of his time away from Italy, he just couldn't get used to the shitty weather in the UK. He could make sunshine charms if he wanted a little light when he was inside, after all. Potions work, which Lovino dedicated most of his free time to, was better suited for the indoors (in most cases), so there was just no point.
But their final year was just beginning, and Ludwig already looked like shit. Their first week, Lovino couldn't see the blonde anywhere without his own brother, Feliciano, attached to Ludwig's side. And later on, when Ludwig's elder brother, Gilbert, returned from "exile" for the (fucking stupid) Triwizard Tournament, Lovino saw him even more rarely. At first, Lovino thought the added company was doing Ludwig some good. He wasn't necessarily smiling and laughing like an idiot, but he was more relaxed. Sleeping better than Lovino expected, considering their schedules since fifth year.
Something must've happened, Lovino thought as he ostensibly stared at Ludwig over his homework, not caring that he was being obvious. Feliciano's been having a series of nightmares the past...week? Week and a half? Lovino couldn't really remember, because he was spending half his own nights consoling his brother, and all of his free time split between homework, pre-N.E.W.T.s studying, and potions experiments. He wasn't exactly sleeping well himself. And Lovino only looked half as bad as Ludwig (if he said so himself, anyway). And Lovino, despite expectations, wanted to know what the fuck was wrong.
So, Lovino had...convinced Ludwig into changing the location of their weekly study session from the library to the small square near the Herbology Greenhouses. The weather, while shitty compared to Italy, was surprisingly warm for late September in Scotland. They could both use fresh air and a bit of sun. He'd plopped on the ground for now so he could comfortably Levitate his work around him without getting in his study partner's space. Lovino wasn't really studying; not his homework, anyway. He couldn't tear his scowl away from the dark circles under Ludwig's eyes, and he simmered in his irritation over their very existence. Lovino knew he wasn't the only one worrying about Ludwig, and he couldn't help but wonder if some of his twin's nightmares had to do with his anxiety over his crush.
"Alright, look," Lovino finally said, deciding he had beaten around the bush enough--or at least stared enough to distract ever-sensitive Ludwig from his work. "I didn't drag you out here to enjoy the 'nice fucking weather'. You look like shit, and we haven't even hit midterms yet. The fuck, Ludwig?" He harrumphed, flicking his wand idly to the left to remove his floating parchment barrier from between himself and the blonde. "What's bothering you? It's not that shitty-ass tournament, is it? If your asshole parents, or stupid brother are trying to pressure you into signing up, I will kick their fucking asses." Despite his language, despite his posture, Lovino's expression was completely serious. Lovino hadn't the slightest inkling if that was actually the case, but better to throw theories out. Ludwig was a shit liar, so the more ideas he tossed the blonde's way, the easier it'd be to figure out what, if anything, was the problem.

I hope you can work off this, Ludwig Beilschmidt ! There doesn't actually have to be anything bothering Ludwig; sometimes Lovino just gets ideas in his head and gets a little too gung-ho |D Just message me if you want/need anything changed?
